Log on each of your VMs using the user name CNSLAB\administrator using the password ‘Pa$$word’ This week we are going to be working with the Windows System Control Center (WSCC) on the Win10 VMs • A portable version of WSCC is already downloaded in the CNSLAB_Installs folder and ready for you to install • Unzip and copy WSCC to the Win10-VM WSCC supports the following utility suites: • Sysinternals Suite • NirSoft Utilities • Windows utilities We will be using HashMyFiles to check for file integrity. • The attached zipped file has some files for you hash • UseHashMyFiles to produce the MD5, SHA1, and SHA512 for each of these files. • Do any produce the same hash? Take some time to explore some more tools in WSCC. Check out the following tools for information about ports and processes. • 'CurrPorts' and Netstat are good for ports • 'Process Explorer' and 'CurrProcess' are good for processes • Open 'AutoRuns' and see what information it provides • Take screenshots of each and write a paragraph about what information this is telling you. • Include any potential security issues that could be identified using these utilities. Week 4 lab Downloaded the folder containing the files for hashing. Added all files to ‘HashMyFiles”. The hashes for ‘hash1a and hash1b were the same. All the others were different. WSCC CurrPorts – Similar to Netstat but provides additional information such as the Process ID, and additional remote information. Netstat - Used to view all active connections by providing the protocol type, ip address and port number, foreign address, and status. Process Explorer – Shows process information like CPU usage, PID, description and company name.
